AI Tools for Strategy and Research - GT #32
Getting expert advice, how to do deep research with AI, prompt strategy, comparing different AIs side-by-side, creating mini-apps and an AI Agent that can critically analyze any social media channel
Reading time: 6 mins.
Beautiful sunshine and blue skies on this side of the planet today. That’s how most mornings have been here in the Gulf of Thailand since the start of August. Temperatures are in the 90’s and beyond, but the soft sea breeze makes life as enjoyable as ever, even without air conditioning.
I am so lucky I can work in a living room that has two big sliding glass doors, a wide window on the left and an always open door on my right. While indoor, it’s really like being outside under the shadow. Birds and butterflies fly through and an electric fan keeps me cool even when there’s no wind.
On the mini-apps front - where I keep challenging myself in creating a new useful one every month (by vibe coding with AI) - I am still a bit in the dark for the upcoming 5th release.
I have invested quite some time in creating an AI Interview Recorder, but as it takes form, I have become a bit skeptical about its real usefulness and technical limitations.
How many people among my readers really want to be voice interviewed by their AI and then publish that stuff?
Is the output quality of my audio recorder sufficient?
I am not really sure.
Maybe I’ll drop the AI Interview Recorder for the time being and rush to build a different mini-app in the time left.
One way in which you can start helping me on this front, is to vote your preference in what you think I should build next. Here a few potential candidates:
This issue focuses on interesting strategy and research AI tools I have recently discovered and tried out.

Stanford STORM
STORM (“Synthesis of Topic Outlines through Retrieval & Multi-perspective Question-asking”) is a free, open-source AI tool developed at Stanford’s OVAL lab. It researches any topic on the web and produces a long, Wikipedia-style article, complete with citations. Think of it as an AI research assistant that first gathers reliable sources and creates a structured outline, then transforms that outline into a polished draft.
One of STORM’s key features is its roundtable mode. In this mode, the system generates a simulated discussion between multiple virtual experts, each representing a different perspective on your chosen topic. As the user, you can step into this conversation at any time, asking your own questions, steering the debate, or digging deeper into a particular viewpoint. The discussion evolves dynamically based on what you ask, making it feel less like reading a static summary and more like attending a live panel where you can interrupt, challenge, and explore new angles..
This makes STORM especially useful for exploring “unknown unknowns”—topics where you don’t yet know what you should be asking. Ideal for scholarly research, critical analysis, and learning by immersion in a multi-perspective conversation.
Doing Deep Research with AI
How To Do It Right by Torsten Walbaum
DeepResearch is an absolutely mind-blowing feature, if you know how to use it..
This in-depth guide illustrates how to do proper deep research, which AIs are better at it, caveats, tips, things to avoid. Excellent read, highly recommended.
Improving Your AI Prompt Strategy
Meta Prompt Method [SMARTCHAIN] - Rahim Hirji
Most prompts are vague. They start in the middle of a thought. They assume the AI knows the context, your goal, and the stakes. It doesn’t. This is a practical simple method that teaches you how to speak to AI clearly, so it gives you back what you actually need, not what it thinks you meant.

Master Prompt Method - Tiago Forte [Video] [48’:06”]
Useful video to watch. It gives you a good idea of the kind of information you need to start collecting and feeding to your AI, so that it has a complete context / profile of you / your company, your audience, what you are after and why.

Creating an AI Agent for Social Media Analysis
Short video (4’ mins) illustrates how to create an AI agent that will weekly check a LinkedIN channel (yours or a client’s), analyze it and create a report highlighting the good stuff and the areas for improvement. Once properly trained with what to look for and your very own evaluation criteria, it can start doing quality work and help you start to scale.

Creating Mini-Apps with AI
New experimental app from Google Labs makes it very easy to create mini-apps without coding. Two use modalities: 1) Remix apps from Opal gallery or 2) Create your own. What’s unique about it compared to other no-code app builders? Editable visual workflow of what the app does. This makes it much easier for non-coders to decide, order, refine and improve what they want their mini-app to do.

Tasting Award-Winning AI Film
From the AIFF 2025 AI Film Festival
This AI film could be seen as suggesting that creativity, above all else, is an act of curation. It's a claim that nothing, truly, is original.
The winner of the festival, “Total Pixel Space” is a nine-minute film demonstrating that the number of possible images or films is greater than the number of atoms in the universe and argues that photographers and filmmakers may be seen as discovering images that already exist in the possibility space rather than creating something new.
